The steel grade 13CrMo4-5 is a low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel type with a relatively low carbon content used for high-temperature applications up to 500°C. The addition of chromium and molybdenum gives it high resistance to corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures.

This steel grade is usually used for the manufacture of pressure vessels, pipelines and other parts in the power plant industry where high mechanical loads and high temperatures occur. It is also a common steel grade for the manufacture of heat exchangers and components exposed to high pressure and high temperatures.

The steel grade 13CrMo4-5 has excellent mechanical properties at both high and low temperatures and is also known for its good weldability and formability. Its high resistance to corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures makes it a reliable steel grade for use in demanding applications such as steam boilers and compressed air containers.

In summary, the 13CrMo4-5 steel grade is a high-performance low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel grade suitable for use in high-temperature applications that require high resistance to corrosion and oxidation.

Applications for 13CrMo4-5

The steel is widely used in the power and chemical industries. It is mainly used for the manufacture of various types of

  • pressure vessels
  • steam boilers
  • turbine blades
  • compressed air tanks
  • piping systems

As a material, 1.7335 is especially suitable for fittings which need to be able to transport steam or liquid at high temperatures. Such fittings can be, superheater pipes or steam and outlet ducts.

Properties of 1.7335

The properties of this steel make it particularly suitable for manufacture of, steam boilers, piping systems and compressor tanks. 1.7335 is a material with

  • relatively low carbon content
  • good machining properties
  • excellent weldability
  • retains high strength even at higher temperatures
  • good cold and hot forming properties

The structure of the 13CrMo4-5 material enables the steel to resist deformation and hardening that can occur during mechanical processing. This property means that soft annealing or similar heat treatment is not required prior to machining.
