24CrMoV5-5 is a low-alloy steel that is mainly used in the manufacture of pressure vessels and piping systems that work at elevated temperatures (up to approx. 500°C) and high pressures.

The chemical composition of 24CrMoV5-5 includes chromium, molybdenum, vanadium and carbon. These alloying elements improve the steel’s strength, toughness and resistance to high temperatures, making it suitable for use in harsh environments.

This steel has excellent creep resistance, which is the ability to resist deformation under high temperatures and prolonged stress. It is also characterized by high toughness, excellent weldability and machinability.

To achieve the specific mechanical properties, the material is typically heat treated through a quenching and tempering process. This process improves the steel’s hardness, strength and toughness, resulting in a high-quality material that can withstand cyclic loading and high loads.

All in all, 24CrMoV5-5 is a reliable and durable material that is used e.g. other in power generation, chemical and petrochemical industries. It has excellent high temperature properties, making it ideal for use in high pressure and high temperature environments where other materials may fail.
