Austenitic, hardenable, stainless spring steel grade for use where moderate corrosion resistance is required. The most widely used stainless steel grade for manufacturing of springs. The steel achieves a very high mechanical strength through cold working. An increase in mechanical strength of more than 250 N/mm2 can be achieved by tempering at 280 to 420°C, this after being cold worked. This tempering also increases the fatigue strength limit. Common in the automotive industry. Good weldability.
