Martensitic-austenitic steel with very good fatigue properties. Its higher alloy content makes 1.4418 more resistant to corrosion than 1.4057 and the addition of molybdenum allows limited exposure to marine environments. The chemical composition and microstructure make 1.4418 extremely resistant to intergranular corrosion, corrosion fatigue and stress corrosion cracking. Areas of use are e.g. chemical industry, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and aviation and space.
