FAQ

  • What is the tooling cost for extruded profiles?

  • The tooling cost for extruded profiles in steel, stainless steel and titanium is relatively very low. Normally the tooling cost starts at € 3500 and upwards. This tooling cost is a one-off cost and the plant bears all the costs of keeping the tool in good condition.

  • What is the quantity to produce extruded profiles in steel and stainless steel?

  • No large quantities are required to produce special profiles. Normally the minimum quantity is 2000 kg for steel, 500 kg for stainless steel and a few hundred kilos for titanium.

  • Is it possible to get a nice surface and high tolerance even on thick sheet metal?

  • Yes, there are a few cold rolling mills that specialise in rolling slightly thicker sheet metal. The surface is then cold rolled in a special roller that measures the thickness tolerance and corrects the roller in real time. The result is an extremely fine surface and good tolerance without the need for further processing. It is possible to cold roll sheet metal up to 15 mm thick.

  • Can you bend a hardened spring steel?

  • We always recommend bending in an uncured state, as this reduces the risk of cracking. It is also difficult to get the right angle as the material springs back. However, customers have told us about successful projects where they have achieved bending in a hardened state with good results, but this has been in thinner sheet metal.
