1.4310, also known as AISI 301 or X10CrNi18-8 is an austenitic, hardenable, stainless spring steel for use where moderate corrosion resistance is required. The most widely used stainless steel grade for the manufacture of springs. The steel achieves very high mechanical strength by cold working. After cold working, an increase in mechanical strength of more than 250 N/mm2 can be achieved by tempering at 280 to 420°C. This tempering also increases the limit of fatigue strength. This tempering also increases the fatigue strength limit. Commonly used in the automotive industry. Good weldability.
