Alloy 400 can be used in contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid and hydrogen fluoride. Used as standard material in salt plants. Good mechanical properties at temperatures below -0°C up to about 550°C. Typical applications are propellers and pump shafts in seawater environment, heat exchangers, sulphuric acid etc.
