C100S is a high-carbon, unalloyed steel with excellent hardness, strength and wear resistance. The steel typically contains about 0.95% to 1.03% of carbon, which is relatively high compared to other carbon steels. The high carbon content contributes to the steel's hardness and strength. Well suited for hardening. Due to the high carbon content, the steel is not weldable. Above 150° C it loses its elastic properties. Used in a variety of applications, including the manufacture of cutting tools, knives, saw blades, chisels and various mechanical components. Also used in the manufacture of coil and flat springs for automotive and industrial machinery.
