, ER310 1.4842 1150°C

1.4842, also known as DIN X12CrNi25-21 or AISI 310, is a heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel with a high scaling temperature of about 1150°C.

1.4842 consists mainly of iron (Fe), chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni). It usually contains about 25 % of chromium and 20 % of nickel, together with small amounts of carbon (C), silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn). These alloying elements contribute to its high temperature strength and corrosion resistance.

One of the defining characteristics of steel 1.4842 is its exceptional resistance to high temperatures. The steel can withstand prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures without significant deformation or loss of mechanical properties. This property makes it suitable for applications in heat treatment equipment, furnaces and other high temperature environments.

Like other stainless steels, 1.4828 offers good corrosion resistance due to its high chromium content. It is resistant to oxidation, scaling and corrosion in various environments, including those containing acids and alkaline solutions.

Steel 1.4828 exhibits good mechanical properties, including high strength and toughness, even at elevated temperatures. This combination of strength and toughness allows it to maintain structural integrity and resist mechanical stresses, especially in high temperature applications.

In addition to its corrosion resistance, steel 1.4828 provides excellent oxidation resistance. The steel can maintain its structural integrity and surface finish even when exposed to high temperatures in oxidising atmospheres.

Thanks to its outstanding high temperature and corrosion resistant properties, steel 1.4842 can be used in various industries. It is widely used in heat exchangers, furnace components, furnaces, boiler parts and exhaust systems in sectors such as petrochemicals, chemical processing and power generation.
