1.4835 / 235MA* is available in plate and bar form and is an austenitic, heat-resistant, stainless/acid-resistant chromium-nickel steel with high oxidation and peeling resistance at temperatures up to 1150°C. However, there may be a slight susceptibility to brittleness during continuous operation at temperatures between 600-850°C.

The steel grade 1.4835 is often used in applications where high temperatures and high mechanical loads occur, such as in the manufacture of furnaces, heating elements, burners, pipelines and other parts in the chemical and power generation industries.

This steel grade has good weldability and machinability and high formability. In summary, steel grade 1.4835 is a high performance, corrosion resistant and high temperature resistant steel grade suitable for use in demanding industrial applications.

Characteristics for 1.4835 / 253MA*.

The steel has properties and a chemical composition that give it very good weldability. The material can be both cold-formed and hot-formed but is only hardened by cold working. Among other things, the steel has properties that make it

  • is heat-resistant
  • is resistant to oxidation
  • is creep-resistant
  • have good mechanical properties
  • has good dimensional stability at high temperatures
  • has very good weldability
  • has strong resistance to calcification.
