100CrMo7-3 is a high-alloy, high-carbon chromium steel known for its exceptional hardness, wear resistance and strength. The carbon (C) content is typically between 0.95 % to 1.05 %, chromium (Cr) between 1.65 - 1.95% and molybdenum (Mo) between 0.20 - 0.35%. 100CrMo7-3 can often be a better alternative to 100Cr6 as molybdenum-containing materials have a better hardening ability even for products with larger cross-sections.Most commonly supplied in the annealed condition, however, heat treatment is essential to achieve the desired mechanical properties in 100CrMo7-3 steel.Typically used in the manufacture of rolls, such as work rolls and back-up rolls, which are crucial components in metal rolling processes. It is also used in the manufacture of other heavy industrial equipment and mechanical parts that require high hardness and wear resistance.
