50CrMo4 is an alloyed strain hardening steel known for its high strength and toughness.
The "50" in its name indicates that it contains approximately 0.50 % carbon. The addition of chromium and molybdenum improves its hardness, wear resistance and ability to withstand high temperatures, making it suitable for applications where strength and durability are required, such as in automotive engineering, machine construction and the manufacture of components for heavy loads.
50CrMo4 can be heat treated to further improve its mechanical properties, allowing customisation based on specific requirements for hardness, toughness and other performance characteristics. It is widely used in the manufacture of gears, crankshafts, axles and other components subjected to heavy loads and stresses.
