1.4410, also known as UNS S32750 or SAF 2507, is a super duplex stainless steel.

1.4410 is a super duplex stainless steel, which means it contains high levels of both chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo), along with significant amounts of nickel (Ni).

One of the most important properties of 1.4410 steel is its outstanding corrosion resistance. The steel provides excellent resistance to various forms of corrosion, including pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This makes it suitable for use in aggressive environments such as the marine environment, offshore oil and gas production and chemical process industries.

Steel 1.4410 exhibits high tensile and yield strength, even at elevated temperatures. Higher thermal conductivity than austenitic steels and suitable in working temperatures up to 300°C. This high strength allows it to withstand mechanical loads and stresses that occur in demanding applications.

The "duplex" in superduplex stainless steel refers to its two-phase microstructure, consisting of approximately equal proportions of austenite and ferrite. This duplex structure contributes to the material's combination of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

Resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC): 1.4410 offers exceptional resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, which is a common form of corrosion failure in stainless steels exposed to chloride-containing environments. This property is particularly beneficial in applications where resistance to SCC is critical, such as in seawater applications.

Due to its superior corrosion resistance and high strength, 1.4410 steel is used in a wide range of applications in various industries. Common applications include offshore oil and gas platforms, seawater desalination plants, chemical processing equipment, components for the pulp and paper industry and structural components in marine environments.
