35NiCrMoV12-5

1.6959

35NiCrMoV12-5 is a high quality alloy steel known for its excellent combination of strength, toughness and wear resistance. It is typically used in applications where high mechanical stresses occur, such as impact and fatigue loading. The steel has a wide working temperature range of -40 to 420°C.

35: Indicates the approximate carbon content, usually around 0.35 %. Carbon content affects hardness and strength.
Ni (nickel): Improves toughness, impact resistance and hardenability.
Cr (chromium): Improves hardenability, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Mo (molybdenum): Improves strength, toughness and hardenability.
V (Vanadium): Promotes fine grain size, which contributes to improved strength and toughness.

May contain small amounts of other alloying elements to fine-tune specific properties.

The alloying elements contribute to its high tensile and yield strength, making it suitable for applications where structural integrity under heavy loads is essential. Nickel, molybdenum and vanadium improve its toughness, allowing it to withstand impact and fatigue loading without failing. Chromium and molybdenum improve its resistance to wear and abrasion, extending the life of components made from this steel.

The steel can be heat treated to achieve different levels of hardness and mechanical properties, allowing customisation according to specific application requirements.

Used in the manufacture of high-strength tools and moulds subject to severe wear and impact, such as forging moulds, punches and extrusion tools. Often used in the manufacture of critical components such as gears, shafts, crankshafts and turbine blades.
Suitable for parts subject to high mechanical stress in heavy machinery, such as industrial gears, bearings and hydraulic components.
